Simon Thorpe received the Michel Montpetit prize from "Académie des Sciences" 2009

On the 13th October 2009, Simon Thorpe DR1, received the Michel Monpetit prize from the Académie des Sciences. The prize, created in 1977, and with a value of 5300 euros, is awarded by the INRIA to recognize work in the area of applied mathematics and in particular computing, robotics and signal processing. Specifically, in Simon Thorpe’s case it was awarded to recognize his "remarkable work in analysing and modeling temporal mechanisms in the neural circuits underlying visual perception and the development of applications in pattern recognition.
